Local Wool and Mohair Farmer Support Initiative

Storm Mountain Diamonds through their CSR program has decided to support the wool and mohair farmers from the Motete Wool and Mohair Association. The initiative is aimed at improving the production of wool and mohair for the farmers in the following areas:-

  • Improved breeding through procurement of improved rams.
  • Improved nutrition through the restoration and rehabilitation of rangelands.
  • Improved infrastructure through maintenance of the current woolshed and construction of offices and accommodation rooms for the personnel working at the woolshed during the wool shearing season.

The mine has procured 30 rams for the farmers and constructed offices and 5 accommodation rooms for the personnel working at the woolshed.

The rams and infrastructure were handed over to the farmers on the 25th February 2022 at a ceremony in Kao Mpa Tšehla at the Motete Wool and Mohair Association wool shed. The ceremony was attended by amongst other dignitaries, the right Honourable Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Mathibeli Mokhothu, Minister of Mines, Honourable Serialong Qoo.
