A sunny Good Friday presented a moment of bliss for over 100 children from Kao community as they participated in their first ever children sports tournament organized by Storm Mountain Diamonds (SMD).

The SMD sponsored tournament saw 51 children participating in a 5km marathon and four soccer teams battling it out in a one-day knockout challenge to determine the winner of the tournament. Female soccer teams also featured to grace the occasion. 

The tournament attracted a total of 151 children participants in the categories of soccer and marathon runners, with the latter, recording impressive performances by Maqhaoana Hokwanarunning 5KM in 16 minutes in the male category, and Lefulesele Matekoa running 15 minutes in the female category. 

For SMD, this initiative is a vibrant cornerstone of the sport, providing a platform for budding talent, affording young athletes from Kao an opportunity to showcase their skills, foster camaraderie, and experience the thrill of intense competition. The ultimate goal is to mould these children to produce professional athletes that will compete in international tournaments and represent the country while making a living for themselves from their talent.
